Good morning my friends! I have a short story to share with you all to help share perspective.
This morning in the office I said hello to a fellow co-worker and she said "hello Erik."
"How are you?" I asked. "It's Friday. And a long weekend," she replied....
I never got an answer to my question. Well, I did, and the assumption is that she is doing well and is happy because today is Friday and it is Labor Day Weekend (no work on Monday). Does this mean she is not well when it is not Friday or the weekend? Probably not, but this helps make my point today. We have to enjoy each day as it comes. We are always so focused on the outcome that we forget the process.. i.e. we forget to enjoy Tuesday because we are so focused on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday....
BUT THEN SUNDAY ARRIVES AND WE ARE UPSET BECAUSE TOMORROW IS MONDAY!!!
You see what we're doing there?!
MORAL OF THE STORY:
Take each day as it comes and enjoy it for what it's worth. Tomorrow does not exist... yet.

Too nice, too positive?
Is there such thing as being too nice or too positive/optimistic? I think not.
People have have said I'm too nice. What does that mean? Define too nice. I understand that some people may try to take advantage of the kind and humble, but that would the "nice" persons fault for allowing it to happen. You see, that saying "don't mistake my kindness for weakness" holds true on all accounts. Just because someone is willing to lend a hand does not mean they are a sucker.
Someone has even said "how can Erik be so positive? It bothers me." I feel that there is not enough optimism in the world with all the negative news being reported and constant negative issues being the focus of the media.
SO WHAT SHOULD WE DO?
We can start by saying thank you to someone who performs an act of kindness. We can stop focusing on the negative. Hold the door open for someone. Say thank you. Say you're welcome. Say hello. Give police officers/firemen/doctors/teachers credit for what they do. Do not judge ALL based on ONE experience. Smile.

Time flies when you're living life
We're used to hearing the saying "time flies when you're having fun." Sure. it's true. When we're having a good time we tend to lose track of time and then when we finish what we are doing we cannot help but wonder "where did the time go?!"
Now, my question is, why can't we "have fun," all the time? We should strive to ENJOY EVERY SINGLE SECOND WE BREATHE. Life is a reason to celebrate all in itself. We should not take things for granted as we have love and happiness all around us. And if we don't, we can certainly find it.
The take home:
Love your life and the people in it. Remember that we never know when our last breath will be taken, so take every opportunity to the maximum level of happiness! Be great.
